Residential Solar Systems

Genesis Energy Corporation focuses primarily on the residential customer. We feel that this is where energy conservation must start. Our residential customers are important to us.

We care about our customers because they are our neighbors and we take pride in the care and service we provide after installations are completed. We want you to be happy and to also take pride in your own commitment to make our future better.

Affordable and Increases the Value of Your Home

Solar-powered homes are starting to outsell traditionally powered electrified new homes in several markets.

If your system will be paid for with a loan, in many cases, the loan cost (after taxes) is less than the utility bill savings. This net savings can be dramatic.

Additionally, solar electric systems increase property value by decreasing utility operating costs. According to an October 1998 article in the Appraisal Journal, a home’s value increases by $20,000 for every $1,000 reduction in annual operating costs from energy efficiency. (See Rick Nevin and Gregory Watson, "Evidence of Rational Market Valuations for Home Energy Efficiency")

Solar electricity is affordable… just do the math.

Rebates and Incentives

Generous incentives make solar systems affordable. Fortunately, there are a wide range of federal, state, and local programs that substantially offset these costs in the form of tax credits, rebates, loans, and grants. If you would like to take advantage of these solar energy incentives, please note that these programs are limited. A complete and up-to-date list of state and local programs is maintained at DSIRE, the Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy.

Effective January 1, 2007 in California a $2.50 per ACCEC watt rebate is offered from the California Energy Commission. Rebates are scheduled to decline in graduated amounts based on total megawatt installed milestones. Funding has been increased and extended with the California Solar Initiative until 2017. Different programs are offered based on the size of the solar system you choose.

Genesis Energy Corporation will complete and manage all of the necessary paperwork for the CEC and your local utility company in order to reserve and claim your rebate. Most residential systems will also qualify for a $2,000 federal tax credit.

Keep in mind, rebates vary between various electric companies. Most electric utility companies work on a tiered rate structure – the more you use, the more you pay per kilowatt-hour (KWH). A solar electric system can knock off those upper tiers to keep you in a more comfortable price range by reducing your electricity costs.

No matter what size system you decide on, you won't believe the excitement you will experience when you see your meter run backwards for the first time.
